What: Pep Rally for Western Heights High School Students |
In a pep rally planned for Friday Jan. 18, Oklahoma City Community College President Dr. Paul Sechrist and Western Heights School District Superintendent Joe Kitchens are announcing that Western Heights High School graduates have an opportunity to attend OCCC tuition-free.
First started in 1999, the OKC-GO! Program has already helped hundreds of Oklahoma City Public School District students achieve the dream of being able to attend and graduate from college. Now, the program is also reaching out to students in Western Heights School District.
"This is a wonderful development for the students of Western Heights," said Superintendent Joe Kitchens. "I know of nothing more important than a child's education. This opportunity is much more than just a chance for college; it's a promise of life."
Students who graduate on time from high school in the Oklahoma City or Western Heights Public School District and attend OCCC the following fall semester are eligible for the program which provides students with up to three years or 61 hours of tuition, fees and books. Students can also take advantage of learning labs, personal mentoring and additional assistance.
"Oklahoma City Community College is committed to working with the Western Heights School District to provide an additional incentive to graduate from high school and go on to college," said OCCC President, Dr. Paul Sechrist. "The OKC Go! Program is designed to remove the financial barriers and encourage more Western Heights graduates to believe that a college education is possible. It is about increasing access and opportunity."
