OCCC Business Department Gives an International Look at Economics while Professor Gets World Recognition

Sergey Moskalionov

Proving that it truly is "one world" when it comes to business, Oklahoma City Community College is employs two professors who teach from outside the country.

Sergey Moskalionov, is a Fulbright Scholar and online economics teacher for OCCC. He is also a native Russian, specializing in teaching economics from an economy few Oklahomans have experienced.

"It is very important for business students to get a world education," says Gary Tucker, Business Teacher at OCCC. "It gives exposure to the way business is moving. The days of isolationism for the U.S. are over."

OCCC students aren't the only ones being taught by Moskalinov, he will be in Moscow next week participating and making a presentation at The Russian Economics Conference.

The conference is titled "Economic Modernization and Social Development" will be held on April 3-5, 2007 in Moscow, Russia. Presenters include VIPs from Harvard, Princeton, Worldbank, IMF, Russian Government and President Putin's Administration.

In the upcoming weeks, students will be able to enroll in Principles of Macroeconomics taught this summer by Germain Pichop, Fulbright Scholar and economist for the World Vegetable Center in Arusha, Tanzania. Pichop's class offers students a look at the economies of Africa as well.
