Oklahoma City Community College is one of 20 community colleges across the nation to be chosen as a pilot site for a new Major Field Test for Associate Degree Business Programs.

The Princeton, N.J. based ETS company developed the test to assess the knowledge and skills in the core curriculum of a two-year business program in the following areas: accounting, economics, management, finance and marketing.

"The test is designed to help community colleges assess student achievement, meet external requirements, develop and improve curricula, and conduct benchmarking and trend analysis," said Linda Tyler, Executive Director of Postsecondary Solutions for ETS.

"We think it is great that OCCC has been chosen for this pilot program," said Jim Schwark, Dean of OCCC Division of Business. "Outcome assessment is vital to the success of a degree program."

Test administration will begin during the Fall 2007 semester. The test will be about two hours long and will be available in both online and paper-and-pencil formats.
