Oklahoma City Community College Cyber Security Under Review

Three years ago, OCCC along with other community colleges and technical centers received an unprecedented $3 million grant from the National Science Foundation with the goal of becoming a national model for cyber security and forensics education. A national visiting committee will be in Oklahoma City Monday, April 30 to see how we are doing in accomplishing that goal.

The committee will review OCCC's cyber-security programs in a meeting with state officials and campus presidents and leaders Monday, April 30 at 3:00 at the State Capital.

The Cyber/Information Security program at Oklahoma City Community College now offers a certificate in Information Security at the federal training level. The certificate certifies that students satisfying program requirements are trained to the federal Committee on National Security Systems (CNSS) 4011 standards for Information Systems Security Professionals.

In order to award this certificate to students, the Cyber/Information Security program performed an extensive mapping procedure of all topics in all courses in the Cyber/Information Security program to the corresponding areas of the CNSS 4011 certification. OCCC is one of only three community colleges in the state that currently offers the certificate.
