OCCC Dealing New Career Opportunities

Oklahoma City Community College is offering a new Casino Gaming program designed to give students a winning hand in a burgeoning career field.

The program includes three courses supplied by poker industry high-roller and 10-time winner of the World Series of Poker, Johnny Chan. The Johnny Chan Academy program is offered online through OCCC's partnership with Gatlin Education Services.

The Casino Gaming program is aimed at preparing students for a career in the casino industry table games environment by providing direction from 10-time winner of the World Series of Poker, Johnny Chan. Through the use of interactive multimedia and instructional video e-mails, the Johnny Chan Academy training teaches the methods, techniques and mannerisms of professional casino poker, blackjack and baccarat dealers.

The program's courses, Casino Poker Dealer, Casino Blackjack Dealer and Casino Baccarat Dealer, cover basic fundamentals such as shuffling, handling checks, limits and betting procedures in today's most popular card games. Upon successful completion, students will receive job placement and support from the advisors at the Johnny Chan Academy including the opportunity to record a streaming video audition to showcase skills to potential employers.
