The Center for International Business at OCCC announces an internationally-known lineup for the center's first Global Excellence Lecture and Workshop Series.
"This lecture series will develop global links with business and community leaders within Oklahoma and throughout the world," said OCCC Division of Business Department Chair, Gary Tucker. "These relationships will provide benefits to Oklahoma City Community College students and business partners."
Topics and speakers scheduled for the upcoming semester include:
Dr. Germain Pichop - December 5, 2007 - "Investing in Africa: Is it worth it?" Dr. Germain Pichop, a Fulbright Scholar currently working in Arusha, Tanzania. Dr. Pichop is an OCCC adjunct faculty member, teaching Economics and International Marketing Management classes online. He is an economist for the Africa Regional Program of AVRDC-The World Vegetable Center, where he coordinates socio-economic research activities across 10 African countries.
Akio Miyabayashi - February 27, 2008 - "European and Asian Developments in the 21st century" Akio Miyabayashi, was the CEO of Minolta Europe for twenty years. Miyabayashi is considered the outstanding Japanese businessman in Europe. His ability to understand different cultures of the world and utilize them for successful growth enabled Minolta to become a major player with 44 companies and subsidiaries and two factories throughout the continent.
Dr. Neal Goodman - April 16, 2008 - "Applying Cultural Intelligence" Dr. Neal Goodman, the co-founder and president of Global Dynamics, Inc.,is an internationally recognized authority in international human resource management and organizational development. He designs international training programs for the corporate training departments of multinational corporations and international organizations.
"These speakers will help bridge the gap between Oklahoma and the rest of the world when it comes to competing on a global stage," Tucker said. "The business community will be able to develop and plan opportunities with those half a world away, as well as increasing ties with those right here."
The Center is also developing student and faculty exchange programs giving Oklahoma students and faculty an opportunity to experience business programs in various countries, and at the same time, offering education opportunities to students and faculty around the world here at OCCC.
