New Business Programs Bring the World to OCCC

The global business world is now at the fingertips of Oklahoma as OCCC officials today outlined the plans for the Center for Excellence, International Business (CEIB).

"CEIB features several projects geared not only toward preparing OCCC students for global competition and management, but also providing global resources to the Oklahoma City community and businesses to establish links within Oklahoma and the rest of the world," said OCCC School of Business Department Chair, Gary Tucker.

CEIB offers online courses taught by Fulbright scholars from around the world. The format allows a first-hand account of international business practices from professors teaching in their home countries.

The Center is also developing student and faculty exchange programs giving Oklahoma students and faculty an opportunity to experience business programs in various countries, and at the same time, offering education opportunities to students and faculty around the world here at OCCC.

"The Center for Excellence, International Business feels that it is important for students from other countries have the opportunity to experience Oklahoma City, just as Oklahoma City Community College students will be experiencing other countries," said Tucker. "The Center is in the process of establishing a scholarship fund to be utilized for students traveling to a foreign country or traveling to Oklahoma City Community College".

The CEIB also offers opportunities for local civic and business leaders to experience the same type of education. Through CEIB lectures and workshops, the business community will be able to develop and plan opportunities with those half a world away, as well as increasing ties with those right here in Oklahoma.

"We are also establishing contacts and agreements with current and former CEOs of major multi-nationals offering even more business educational opportunities," Tucker added.

As part of the new center, OCCC will begin offering degree plans in International Business.
