The National Center for Employee Development (NCED) and Oklahoma City Community College (OCCC) have partnered together to provide exciting new educational opportunities for employees of the United States Postal Service. This collaboration will result in the opportunity for employees to earn college credit for certain NCED training experiences, and to add general education course work to that training in working toward the completion of a college certificate or degree. What does this agreement do for you?

You may now be able to combine training, college course work you have completed at another college, and course work from Oklahoma City Community College and earn an Associate Degree in Technology. While working toward your degree you may be eligible to earn one or more certificates in your area of expertise. Certificates can be significant milestones on your way toward your Associate Degree. Both Certificates and the Associate Degree itself can increase your earnings and your chances for promotion.

All general education course work required for a degree will be offered as distance education. Online courses and other types of courses that can easily fit into your schedule will make it convenient for you to finish course work at your own speed.

How do I get started?

The first step is to apply for admission to Oklahoma City Community College. Applications with all support documents must be submitted at least one week prior to registering in classes. In order to apply you must submit the following.

  • An NCED Application for Admission Form is required to take advantage of the unique opportunity. . The NCED Application for Admission Form may be filled out, printed and mailed, faxed, or saved and e-mailed directly to the College, attention NCED. The College mailing address is 7777 S. May, Oklahoma City, OK 73159, FAX number - 682-7521, and e-mail NCED-Admissions@occc.edu.

  • A copy of your high school transcript and any available ACT or SAT scores if you are 20 years of age or younger.

  • Upon your request a NCED transcript of any Postal training you have completed will be submitted by the NCED Registrar's Office at the following email address registrar@NCED.gov

  • Official copies of transcripts from any other colleges you have attended. Without these transcripts, we will be unable to advise you as to future enrollments and potential degree completion.

What are Online Courses?

Oklahoma City Community College is committed to providing quality education at times and places most convenient to students. Our online courses are interactive, self-contained and accessed through the Internet. Each course is taught by an instructor from Oklahoma City Community College and has an official start and end date.

The course material is presented online within the course software and may include Internet-related activities as well as text-based assignments. Grades will be based on the activities assigned in the course, which may include exams, research papers, group research projects, and discussions. As part of your course participation, you may be required to post messages to the Bulletin Board/Discussion Board, participate in chat sessions and send assignments via an e-mail attachment to the instructor.

How will I know which courses I should take?

Upon receipt of your application, your transcripts, and any available test scores, an Admissions Officer will evaluate your status regarding the program curriculum in which you are interested. You will then be contacted by e-mail concerning additional testing you may be asked to complete. This testing (the COMPASS test) is used by the College to assist in placing you into courses which match your entry level skills. If testing is required, a time and location will be agreed upon. After the testing is complete and the College has received your test scores, a Student Development Counselor will contact you with course advisement information.

Once I have decided upon my courses, how will I enroll?

Oklahoma City Community College has an online enrollment system called "MineOnline." Once your application, transcripts, and test scores have been evaluated, you will be e-mailed a notice of acceptance. Within that e-mail you will be given an initial password to access the MineOnline System. With your password you will be able to enroll into the courses you have selected as long as all prerequisites have been met.

How much will this cost?

NCED students will pay $80.00 per credit hour for all Oklahoma City Community College courses in which you enroll. Additionally, all new students will be required to pay a $25.00 application fee. This fee will be included in your semester bill. Fees are due in accordance with a fee-payment date which will be provided to you during the enrollment process. The fee due date for the full amount owed will always be prior to the beginning of classes. Fees may be paid online, by mail, or in person.

NOTE: You must pay complete fees or enter into a fee payment plan by the fee due date or your enrollment will be cancelled and your courses no longer available.

How will I receive credit for the training I have already completed?

In compliance with American Council on Education (ACE) standards and the requirements of the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, Oklahoma City Community College has evaluated training programs conducted by the National Center for Employee Development and determined course credit equivalences. Those equivalency matrices are available on this website in the left hand column?? as pdf's for the latest Credit for credit will be awarded as indicated in the course curriculum required for your certificate or degree program. The fee associated with the posting of advanced standing credit for training courses already completed will be $5.00 per credit hour.

How long will it take me to earn a degree?

The time required for earning a degree will depend on the amount of training you have already completed as well as upon the number of college credit hours you have already earned. Oklahoma City Community College offers a wide variety of formats regarding course length. Both 8-week and 16-week courses are regularly offered via the internet and other distance education options. Depending upon your work load, you may choose to complete one or more general education courses each semester.

Will my degree transfer?

Oklahoma City Community College has articulation agreements with the University of Oklahoma and Rogers State University. If you complete the requirements for the Associate in Science Degree, your course work will transfer to http://www.ou.edu/cls to the Bachelor of Liberal Studies. The Associate in Applied Science will transfer to the Bachelor of Technology at Rogers State University http://www.rsuonline.edu.
