PLANNED GIVING

Older couple

There are many ways to make a planned gift to the Oklahoma City Community College Foundation.

Remembering Us in Your Will

You have several options when choosing to remember Oklahoma City Community College Foundation in your will. You'll have to start first with an updated will. This is key to making your wishes known.

One option is a bequest of a fixed dollar amount. Another is to designate a percentage of your estate to go to the Foundation. You can also name the Foundation as a contingent. This means that funds would go to a certain individual if that person survives you; if not, they would be paid to the Foundation. You might find a better alternative in a trust. There are two types: Charitable Remainder Annuity Trust and Charitable Remainder Unitrust. For more information on Remainder Trusts, visit the Planned Giving Design Center.

Year-End Giving

Donating before the end of the year can qualify you for a charitable deduction if you itemize when you file your taxes.

While there are always projects and specific areas of service to donate to, undesignated gifts also benefit the College. These gifts go to the area of greatest need. You may donate by cash, check or credit card. When you use your credit card, you'll receive a deduction in the year the card is charged, not when you pay your bill.

Other options are to consider gifts of appreciated stock or real estate. These may take a little longer to complete, so make sure to plan ahead if you want to receive a deduction in a specific year.

Insurance Policies and Retirement Plan Assets

You can name the Oklahoma City Community College Foundation as a beneficiary on an insurance policy or transfer retirement assets to the Foundation. You may receive significant tax savings and help the Foundation in achieving its mission.

Charitable Gift Annuity

Charitable lead trusts ("CLTs") are designed to provide income payments to at least one qualified charitable organization for a period measured by a fixed term of years, the lives of one or more individuals, or a combination of the two; after which, trust assets are paid to either the grantor or to one or more non charitable beneficiaries named in the trust instrument. More...

Charitable Remainder Trust

A charitable remainder trust is a trust that provides for a specified distribution, at least annually, to one or more beneficiaries, at least one of which is not a charity. The distribution must be paid at least annually for life or for a term of years, with an irrevocable remainder interest to be held for the benefit of, or paid over to, one or more qualified charities.
