Oklahoma City Community College offers three areas of focus for the Child Development program: an Associates in Arts--University Parallel, an Associates in Applied Science--Technical and Occupational, and a Certificate of Mastery. The Certificate of Mastery is designed to "meet the training requirements for the Child Development Associate (CDA), a national competency-based credential."* It takes a minimum of fifteen credit hours to complete certificate requirements. The A. A. and A. A. S. degrees require a minimum of sixty credit hours for completion. The child development courses focus on "theories and techniques for helping children reach their full potentials. Students work directly with children in the Child Development Center applying concepts learned in the classroom." *
This page will provide additional detailed information about each program in the near future. For more information about these programs, contact Cecilia Pittman at 682-1611 ext. 7159.
